OMI VIỆT NAM::OMI General House: A Day of Renewal and Commitment English OMI General House: A Day of Renewal and Commitment On February 2, the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, the OMI General House in Rome experienced a moment of grace. Members of the Secular Institute of the Missionary Oblate Cooperators of Mary Immaculate (COMI) renewed their vows, reaffirming their commitment to God and to the Oblate charism. Ileana Chinnici, COMI This year’s renewal was particularly special with Mónica, the first COMI from Argentina, renewing her vows. Her journey has taken her to Italy, where she is continuing her formation in preparation for her perpetual vows next year. Her presence is a clear sign of how the Oblate charism continues to grow, inspiring and reaching new communities. The celebration took place in the heart of the Congregation, in an atmosphere of prayer and fraternity. Before the final blessing, the COMI renewed their daily act of offering to Mary Immaculate in front of the image that, according to tradition, “smiled” at St. Eugene de Mazenod. It was a simple yet powerful moment, a reminder of Mary’s constant presence in the life and mission of the Oblate family. This gathering was not just for the COMI and OMI. Lay associates from Poland and the Sisters of Notre Dame were also present, a clear sign of communion within the Church and how different vocations can share the same missionary spirit. The International Roman Scholasticate (IRS), whose music filled the space with prayer and joy, enriched the liturgy. Their dedication and presence made the celebration even more meaningful, drawing everyone into a deeper spirit of gratitude and renewal. More than just a simple celebration, this renewal was a reminder that a commitment to God is not a one-time event but a daily choice. It is a journey lived in community, with the certainty that the Oblate mission continues to bear fruit in those called to serve.
